Downpipes

The downpipes were installed today, the Jasper Colorbond matches the brick really well, we are very happy with the colours that we selected, they are coming up just as we imagined, and we are so glad, it is very difficult choosing colours from small little samples and trying to imagine them in a large scale.

Insulation and brick stacking

The insulation between the walls was installed today, it already makes the house feel warmer and not as noisy, it certainly will help on those 40C days in Summer.

Last two remaining stack of bricks

DJ and I decided that we wanted to keep as many bricks as we could for some sort of use in the future, so we went down tonight with Luke, Laura and Erin and sorted out the best of the seconds pile of bricks and then moved the last two remaining stacks over to the back fence.  It was one heavy job as the light began to fade we contiuned working in the dark, even Miss Erin put on some gloves and tried to help.  Tomorrow is the site clean up and we dont want to loose any bricks if possible, so we had to get the job competed tonight.

Here is one section of our nice stack of bricks along the back fence, we were all quite proud of them at the end of the night. The flash on the camera worked very well as it was virtually dark when we finished.

Ethernet Cable Installation

405 metres of Ethernet Cable went in today.  DJ and Luke installed it, what can I say?? Just a bit of cable, DJ has plans for some sort of  internet super highway in the house - or perhaps an "ethernet autobahn" hey Philipp, what do you reckon??

Luke enjoyed the day with his dad.

Laura, Erin and I headed down to see how they were going, we knew it was time for us to leave when Erin thought the power drill would be fun to play with and the ladder was safe to climb!  Laura came to the rescue and piggybacked her around the house.

Luke finally got to drill some holes in the framework of the house, an exciting day for an 11 year old.

Bricking continues

The brickwork has made its way around to the front of the house today, it is looking great.

Brickwork up the side wall of the garage.

The pipes in the centre of the kitchen floor for the sink.

Jennie and Laura in the garage.

Miss Erin found her way to the toilet pipes again, she is fascinated by them!

All Jennie needs is some hot water after a long day at school so that she can relax in the bath.

Once again Erin found her mound of dirt and spent the night sliding up and down it.

The four kids in the rumpus room.

I love this photo of the sunset and the front of the house, I can't wait to move in and watch some more sunsets from right here.

Ducted Vacuum System

The pipes for the ducted vacuum system have gone in over the last few days, here are a few pictures of the work that has been going on today.

I am hoping that the kids don't suck any socks up in these pipes over the years and block the entire system, with four kids in the house we don't think our odds on this are too good.

Afternoon visit to the house

We are heading down to the house each night these days, the kids are really excited and ask to head down there each day after school or when DJ gets home from work.  Today being a Saturday, we headed down in the afternoon, we were able to get some better quality photos of what is going on inside as it was much lighter.

Some more electrical wiring has been installed.

The bath in daylight

The "builder's doors" have been installed in the garage and on the front of the house in preparation for the lock-up stage.

The solar panel for the hot water service was installed this week.

More brickwork was done today on the other side of the house.

The plumbers have been working on the house this week.

The electricity box, with the yellow gas pipe alongside it, will eventually connect to the hot water service.

Finally, what is a visit to the block without Miss Erin climbing up to the top of the mound of dirt in the backyard.

More bricks, doors and electrical wiring

On tonight's visit to the house, there had been alot more bricking completed,  here is the hot and cold tap points, gas and electrical wiring in the alfresco area.  DJ is hoping to connect his BBQ directly into the gas here, which means no more gas bottles :)  At some point we are also planning on an outdoor sink.

The electrician visited the site also today, a lot of wiring for lights and power have been installed throughout the house.

Cavity sliding doors to the rumpus room and WIR's were installed today also.

The framework to support the bath was built and the bath partially installed today, the kids were really interested to see how this was done.

Bricks and a few deliveries

The brickies were on site today and began the huge task of bricking the house.  Everyone was very excited to head down to the house tonight and see the bricks that had been laid, the colour looks fabulous we are really pleased with our selection.

The brick wall on the back corner of the house and the rumpus room window.

Miss Erin wandering around the back of the house, she always heads for the mound of dirt in the backyard, and loves climbing it.

Erin heading out the sliding door into the alfresco area.

3/4 of a brick wall along the side of the house - looking great!

Jennie was amazed at how many bricks were piled around the perimeter of the house.

We stepped into the house and found that the bath had been delivered, and was left in the hallway.

Cavity sliding doors had also been delivered and are waiting to be installed.

The roof tilers also finished the job today and the scaffolding will be coming down soon, the roof looks great!
