A huge week- Tiles, basins, heating, cooling and a driveway!

The visit to the house today saw the delivery of the tiles, the builder wanted us down there to see if the tiles we had selected were delivered correctly, and to see if we were still happy with them before they were laid down.  Here is a photo of the mountain of tiles that the tilers will face when they walk in the door for this job, a total of 9 stacks of tiles - not a job I'd like to be doing.

A little difficult to see with the lighting of the photo, but here is one of the tiles as it will appear, they are a latte colour, which matches the neutral scheme really well.

This is the decorative tile that we have selected for the showers, it will be cut into a long strip and laid as a feature.

The basins had also been installed when we got there today and the kids were very excited to see that the holes that had been cut into the benches were now filled with basins.  Below is the ensuite.

Below is the basin in the main bathroom.

The evaporative cooling and heating were also installed this week, here is a picture of the cooler up on the roof.

The vents for the heating and the cooling are also completed.
The electrician has also been and installed a number of down lights and "normal" light fittings throughout the house.

A few weeks ago when we walked through the house I noticed that the laundry didn't have any overhead cupboards, DJ spoke to the builder and they arranged these for us, I was wrapped when I saw them today, very handy to keep things up high from tiny little hands!

Finally the concrete driveway was poured today, hopefully we will be back there later this weekend to get some more photos when it is a little drier, the concrete was still wet today when we were there, in fact the boys were still working on it and the last concrete truck was just leaving as we arrived.

Caesarstone Benchtops

So excited today, we went to look at the house and the caesarstone bench tops have been put in, the kitchen looks great! We thought long and hard about these benches and decided to go with them, our good friend Kate, and SIL Karen said that they are fantastic especially for pastry making etc, and seeing as there is a lot of cooking that goes on in our family we thought we'd be crazy if we didn't give the caesarstone a try.

This is the bencthtop next to where the oven will be.

The waterfalls down the sides of the benches look great and have a bevelled edge on them to soften the blow of bumping in to them.

Ceilings, doors and architraves

Progress has been fast at the house over the last few weeks, but now that it has reached "lock-up" we aren't able to get regular photos until we meet the building supervisor on site - we have to say that he has been absolutely fantastic, honestly we couldn't have been luckier to get such a wonderful person supervising the entire building process.

Here are some photos from our visit there today.

The lining to the ceilings in the alfresco area and porch have both been stained and look great.

The architraves have been put up around all of the windows - which means that we can get a quote for the blinds that we want to get installed before we move in. Here is Luke's room.

The painting has also begun, it will be a total of three coats to complete the job and the first one has been completed and the second coat has begun, they are now concentrating on doors, skirting's and architraves.

Laura was very excited to see that the door had been put on her walk in robe and it had also been painted!

The bathroom waterproofing and painting has also come a long way, the tiling won't be far away now.

kitchen and bathroom waterproofing.

Hey Philipp and Janina I finally updated the blog just in time before September turns into October,  we have been so busy, I am really glad that I took the time to update the blog tonight, we are hoping that this will be a great memory for all of us especially the kids in years to come.

Today we had an appointment with a local curtain company to get some quotes on window furnishings, whilst we were in the house I took the opportunity to get some more photos of the kitchen.  The bathrooms were being waterproofed whilst we were there but I didn't take any photos of the process as the tradies were working in those areas at the time.

Here are some updated photos of the kitchen at the moment.

Cupboard doors and handles have all been placed on, the wood on the bench is the template for the Caesarstone benchtop that will be installed at a later date.

We did notice that the doors and the sink had all been delivered, can't wait to see the progress by the end of this week.

Pine lining to alfresco

On our visit to the house today, we could see that more work had been completed inside however we couldn't take any photos as the house was locked.

The pine lining to the alfresco area has begun and it is looking terrific, here are a few pictures of what is going on outside the house.

Kitchen construction begins

We had an arranged meeting at the house this afternoon to meet with the builder who was once again able to unlock the house for us and show us the progress this week. It was really very exciting to see the kitchen installation beginning and the cupboards in the bathrooms, and laundry being installed.

Front porch pine lining to ceiling and facade installed, we are really happy with the work that the carpenter has completed here.

All of the drawers lined up ready for installation.  I am so excited about my pot drawers, I went a bit over the top and asked for them just about everywhere they could be installed.

Erin out on her mound of dirt again, I think I have a photo of her up here from every time we have come for a visit.

Erin running along the crushed rock that has been put down in preparation for the concrete that will  be poured here soon.

I can't wait to see what the next few weeks are going to bring, things are moving along nicely.

Plaster Completion and Cornice Installation

The plasterers finished the job today, the builder was great, he called us and unlocked the house so that we  were able to have a quick walk through and take some photos of the changes this week.

The cornice work has been put up, here is the living and rumpus rooms.
